Hetton Carnival

On Saturday 21st June 2025, we attended a two day event at Hetton Lyons Country Park for the second year, the lovely Fiona Harnett that helps host the event gave us a special shoutout to the local media outlet that is the Sunderland Echo,

For the first time at this event, we provided a Viking village full of fun activities such as foam sword fighting, full metal battle re-enactments and a look into everyday Viking life and history.

The public got to engage with us first hand to ask questions about the way Viking's would work, live and even eat. They also got a hands on experience with the weapons and armour that some of the Viking's would wear and use such as the Dane Axe, common Hand Axe, Long Bow and the Occasional Sword.

Overall the event was great, the people were really engaging and we're looking forward to being back next year, even bigger and better!

2025

Largs Viking Festival

In the run up to our next event at Largs Viking Festival, we have received a special shoutout from their Facebook page.

Largs is one of the largest Viking events based in the UK so to be attending this event is an absolute honour. Although we are only staying for the first weekend we are going to make sure we leave a lasting impact on Largs and become one of their returning groups.

Largs Viking Festival

Iceborn Vikings attended the opening weekend of Largs Viking Festival for the events 45th anniversary, not only did we captivate the crowd with our thrilling displays of Viking combat but we also managed to gain the attention of Largs&Millport news outlet during the opening parade.

Houghton Feast

At Iceborn Vikings, we know how to make an impression - this time at the houghton feast with orchestrated marching, shield wall displays and even some combat afterwards! Of course, it's difficult to not catch the media eye when your as flashy as us, this time catching the eye of the local media that is the northern echo!

Hetton Carnival

On Saturday 20th to Sunday 21st June 2026, we reattended our local Hetton Carnival, fulfilling our promise to make the show bigger and better year after year.

This year we did so by having multiple groups join us from multiple time periods.

On the viking side we had: Ourselves, Odinn bornn, John Sadlers time bandits, The historical living company and Orhildir and Grinling.

On the medieval side representing 13th century england we had: The Heron Guard who travelled up from the isle of wight as well as Outlaws and Vagabonds who are more local at Brancepeth Castle.

We also had Regan's Reivers with Axe Throwing and House of Imishishi doing viking braids for the public at affordable pricing,

Next year we have an even bigger and better show planned with potential horse riding reenactors, 17th century reenactors, more medieval groups and a longship for the lake.

As always we love attending these events and watching them grow year on year.

2026

UK Enterprise Awards

Iceborn Vikings work extremely hard with everything we do from the training, the shows we perform to the planning of our events and so much more.

Of course none of this is possible without our amazing volunteers, collaborations with other groups and other companies that have helped us along the way.

We're thankful for all the groups and vendors in our most recent hetton carnival event but also want to give a thanks to Fest events north east CIC with Claire and Helen, Events2GOGO with Fiona Harnett and Lee Harnett, the guys from Springboard and the Carnival Rides as well as The Coalfield Community Grant and Gentoo Aspire grant both of which have helped fund safety kit and tents in the past two years.

To win an award for 'Best Immersive Viking Reenactment Group of 2026' is a massive acheivement but we will never forget the help we've received along the way and the people that made it all possible. Another special shoutout to our amazing volunteers who make Iceborn what it is today.

Durham County Show

At the Durham County show we had the pleasure of making it onto 'Durham on Air' Radio station to talk about the hobby, what we do and where we train. Our member Taylor Fillier had the courage to speak live on air about all the wonderful things we do as well as taking part in an amazing and local event.

Wagtail Summer Fayre

We love working with new events organisers and local CIC's with similar goals and mindsets so we're happy to announce that we will be attending the Wagtail summer Fayre on the 25th of July 2026 for the first time ever and what better way to kick it off then with a wonderful shoutout from them in preperation for the event. This year we start of small but as always we aim to grow year on year.
